Shoe quilts

From the February Full Moon I watched over the Mississippi river at our friends house,

I created this little block for my Earth/Moon quilt. Every night my girlfriend and I would sit in her hot tub and watch the moon come up and the river go by. Heavenly!

A few years ago when I was in Alaska visiting my friends we would sit out at night in their hot tub watching the snowflakes come down, it was wonderful. She made me a wall hanging like this (only much more detail), that is where I got the idea for this one. I still love the wall hanging Deb and hope to be back in your hot tub someday!

I have loved these linen napkins from Pier I Imports for a couple of years and yesterday I stopped in and they were on clearance. I loved them even more and bought six.

I have them displayed on my hutch in the kitchen with two  fat stuffed owls and candle sticks I brought back from Africa.

At my Quilt Guild they had a Shoe quilt challenge, I didn't participate but we had some great entries. They were displayed last night (on a clothes line which isn't the greatest way to hang quilts straight) at our meeting.
This first on has the greatest detail with birds, flowers and embroidery detail on stiletto heels.

I don't know if she embroidered the shoes with her machine or if they were an applique but they were beautiful.

This was a clever idea, her wedding dress with her legs sticking out.

And beaded shoes.

A shoe tree.

This woman's husband is in the Army and on deployment over seas, the boarder is made from one of his uniforms, the laces in the boots are her husbands. The poem in the background makes you want to cry. This was a real emotional quilt.

My friend Mary made this cute witches shoe quilt,

with lots of spiders and boot details.

This one is a old fashion T.V. with

the prince trying the glass slipper on Cinderella.

Eileen made this shoe quilt with shoe styles from the 60's and 70's.

Lots of funky shoes and beads, beautifully done.

This lady made a shoe quilt showing her daughters love of shoes!

Hi Kathy, your moon block is so great! I love that it's also a memory. Great find at Pier One, I'm going to run over there asap -- I love the linen napkins . . . the owls are so cute, did you make them? xx

What a great bunch of shoe quilts. I'm surprised you didn't have a snow-shoe quilt to add to the show!

I can't wait to see all of your moon blocks together !

Hi Peggy, I didn't make the owls I bought them from Art Museum, they are cuddley and cute.
Hi Deb, I didn't even think of snow shoes, but I barely have time to work on my own projects so I don't think about challenges.
